Cover from the Gatchaman scenario for episode 26

An example of a standard appearing Gatchaman scenario, in this case from episode 26, Return to Life, God Phoenix. Scenarios like this would contain a pre-production draft of the episode's plot. In many cases they would include scenes that would be altered and/or deleted for the final script.

Scenarios were printed for most of the production staff, from the producers, down to the people that did the editing so they would know what was upcoming. Reportedly Tatsuo Yoshida liked to have input from any of his staff about story ideas, so these scenarios were widely read within the studios.

The scripts were printed on medium weight colored cover stock (concurrent episodes used different color covers so they didn't get confused during production) and the interiors were printed on pulp. The pulp interiors were double stapled and the covers were glued to the interiors.

The scripts were printed from typeset sources, unlike the final scripts which were printed from handwritten sources. Many scenarios would include production and episode number indications (handwritten and/or stamped) within the boxes at the lower left of the cover.

Due to their age, the scenarios are very fragile and tend to tear and fall apart easily.
