EPISODE #72 – INVASION OF THE LOCUSTS

Zoltar, because of his many failed attempts to conquer Earth, is quickly losing the faith of his followers on the evil planet of Spectra. He does, however, come up with a plan. He has developed a Mechanical Locust which will be sent to Earth to cause the natural locust to multiply at an extreme rate and then lead them to devour the Earth’s food supply. The first of the strangely mutated locust is spotted in the Amazon jungle and is recognized by a Professor Chambers as being a mutation from an alien planet. G-Force is immediately put on the alert. Keyop is sent to accompany Professor Chambers back to the Amazon to investigate and report back. As their plan approaches the region, it is swarmed by a dense pack of the deadly locust and begins to lose control. After the pilot bails out, Keyop manages to bring the craft down in the waters of the Amazon. Amid growing concern for the safety of the Professor and Keyop, G-Force, led by Mark, is dispatched to find and stop Zoltar before his plan can do any harm.

While G-Force is enroute to the Amazon on board the Phoenix, Zark tries unsuccessfully to locate Keyop by radio. Meanwhile, Keyop and the Professor examine a locust that Keyop has just killed with his knife. They discover that their specimen is actually a robot that sends out a radio signal that causes the natural locust to follow it. The radio frequency also seems to bring about a biological change in the offspring of the locust. As Keyop and the Professor examine their specimen, the small lab where they are working is attacked by a swarm. During their efforts to repel the swarm, Keyop recognizes the sound of the approaching Phoenix. As the Phoenix approaches, Princess and Tiny spot the G-Force secret emblem carved into the side of a mountain in the form of an arrow. Assuming that it is a signal from Keyop, they proceed to follow it. Meanwhile, Zoltar gloats as he watches G-Force fall into the trap that he has laid. A dense swarm of the locusts, led by Zoltar’s robot locust, attacks the Phoenix as it flies overhead. Shaken by the attack, the Phoenix escapes by transmuting itself into the form of a fiery bird. After it’s escape, the Phoenix lands near Keyop and the Professor. While G-Force enjoys its reunion, Zoltar takes off in his ship to release his attack on several major cities. Alerted to the latest developments by Chief Anderson, G-Force attempts to duplicate the radio frequency used by Zoltar to guide the locust. The plan works, the frequency brings the robot, which leads the swarms to the Phoenix, which in turn leads them into the sea. The Phoenix fires a missile at the King Locust (the ship carrying Zoltar and his crew) sending it, too, towards the sea. Seconds before the crash, Zoltar boards his escape ship and blasts off, once again escaping the forces of good.

Professor Chambers discovers a peculiar locust in a region of the Amazon. He brings it to G-Force since he suspects it's something deadly from an alien planet. He doesn't know how correct he is! Zoltar has sent billions of this newly-developed breed of locust to destroy all of Earth's food crops!
