Re: Art differences between series
Tatsunoko Pro, If I heard correctly, was one of the first studios to REALLY want to be big outside Japan. They really wanted that foreign money. To their credit, they never sacrificed their unique voice to appeal to foreign audiences, they had an iconic vision... Even if their anime had to be edited ...

Re: Art differences between series
I am a Fuerza G Guardianes del Espacio kid. But it took until I learned about Battle of the Planets that I joined the fandom. Battle is fascinating because the process under it was made was very well documented and it helped bring anime into the mainstream. It was a key import for the anime industry.

Re: Art differences between series
While the sequel series seem to have more moments of fluidity than the first, the first series realism and outright beautiful artwork is unparalleled. I think that Gatchaman is thus a work where many industry legends put their efforts on, and its not an easy answer, but indeed both Tatsuo Yoshida and Ippei Kuri are to thank for this before and after in Animation.
I have to thank everyone. I really wanted to make a topic that would attract a lot ...

Who is to be credited as the mastermind behind Gatchaman?
Tatsuo Yoshida or Ippei Kuri?
Some modern interviews and backstage info says Ippei Kuri is the one. But I happen to think it was Mr Tatsuo Yoshida who is the one to credit. I wanna know for sure.

Re: Something occurred to me
I know this thread is as old as the Dead Sea and I have no business contributing but I always read it that Katse and other characters may believe he’s inhuman, but Nambu is really the moral authority of the series, not Ken, Joe, or any of the other science ninjas. And he considers Katse human ...

I absolutely love Kia Asamiya-sensei. He created my favorite childhood magical girl show Corrector Yui. He's a living legend.
