Re: I need help from old BotP fans. How was the era it was created in?
I was very young when Battle of the Planets captured my imagination - about 3 or 4 years old, maybe 5? I have vivid memories of (role) playing the characters with the boys at kindy (pre-school) - they never let me be Jason because I was a girl, so I had to be Princess! This would have been around 1...

I need help from old BotP fans. How was the era it was created in?
I wanna discuss something. I want to get a clearer picture of the era BOTP was made from its fans. People nowadays have a very clear idea of what happened in the past. Hindsight is 20/20 and the history has been documented extensively. But I want to know of the personal memories of people who lived ...

This beautiful article praises Battle as a turning point in USA Anime History.
And then perhaps the first big anime hit arrived in the US: Battle of the Planets, known in Japan as Gatchaman. As of 1979, the show was running on 100 network affiliates during after-school hours. “For many American teens and young adults, this would be their first taste of Japanese pop,” wrote aut...

Re: How was life for kids in the early days of Cable?
I was a cliche and boring cable kid, Nick, CN the usual. But what does make things interesting is that we South American kids had this unique to Argentina channel that also broadcast in Paraguay: Magic Kids, no G Force but it had most of the anime that put Toonami on the map. Also massive thank you,...

How was life for kids in the early days of Cable?
I love hearing the Other Jason talk so much I did this special thread just for him. How was life when CABLE was in its infancy, no Nickelodeon, No Cartoon Network AND MOST CERTAINLY no Disney Channel. How was tv for kids back then?

Re: Life as a Syndication Kid: What was it like?
Hi Cure DragonEagle, I'm not sure I quite understand what you're asking. But, if it's strictly about over-the-air television, I don't think I can really add much. I grew up in an area of the US that adopted cable very early. The only times I can remember not having it was in my family's first house...
