BotP Close-up 031

Post: # 438Post Bobkat »

This week's full plot has us meeting the Galaxy Girls! This is number 26 for Battle, as I have them saved in chunks of 25 on my computer. :)

I like this ep quite a bit. The only quibble I have is the how they treated Jason being left behind. But hey, what do you do? :) Enjoy!

The Other Jason's write up is here: https://www.battleoftheplanets.info/ep31.html

E31: The Galaxy Girls

Act One

7-Zark-7 is still monitoring the galaxy from alien invaders but he's irritated at the moment. He's trying to deal with a malfunction in the Reference Voltage Generator of the Synchronous Image Amplifier – in other words, nothing's working. He's also alone, save 1-Rover-1 sitting beside him, because G-Force is heading to their mountain retreat headquarters, including Chief Anderson. Zark worries Zoltar will plan something without them knowing it. Rover offers help but when Zark offers to turn him into an electronic repair dog, Rover walks away. Zark knows the idea wasn't so hot after all and says he can contact Chief Anderson but doesn't want to admit his weakness. Zark is determined to fix the problem himself.

It's nighttime in the city as Jason drives Chief Anderson. They're in the process of crossing a bridge when Jason notices they're being followed. Jason does some nifty driving to try to lose the "strange-looking car." The car isn't giving up even when Jason makes a major jump to escape. The lady driver holds a rose between her teeth. Her car is equipped with saws and Jason remarks, "I feel like a can of sardines about to be opened!" He keeps driving try to lose the lady. But she tries bumping him off the road after shredding a tire. Jason sees how determined she is and her car turns into a rocket-propelled vehicle. She forces Jason off the bridge and the car leaps into the river. But Jason has a few tricks up his sleeve too as the car changes into an amphibious vehicle rather than sinking to the river bottom. However, the lady doesn't see everything tossing the rose into the water. Jason notices it in a side-view mirror and recognizes it as a bomb!

As Jason and the chief go about their way underwater, Chief Anderson asks Jason if he got a good look at the driver. "Yeah, and I hope I never see her again." Up top, the lady leaves the scene satisfied that the car has been destroyed and blown up. She meets up with a larger rocket ship hovering above the city.

Chief Anderson opens the door to his office where the rest of G-Force is waiting. Mark makes a crack, "About time." Chief Anderson explains they had a "slight interruption" on their way. Jason adds some color commentary while closing the door with his foot. He describes "only a masked woman in a rocket ship who tried to kill us with a magnetic exploding rose that she carried in her teeth." Mark snarks, "And she had six long wavy arms, right." Princess adds, "With a bunch of daisies in every hand and then you woke up." Jason isn't happy that his teammates aren't taking the story seriously. Mark says they have real problems if Jason isn't joking, which he's not. Mark says where there's trouble with Jason finishing, "Look for Zoltar. He's got more tricks than an Oriental magicians convention." Jason also wonders why Zark hasn't picked up anything. Keyop offers, "Gremlins?" Tiny tells him that Zark has been complaining of "Image Amplifier" not working properly. Jason suggests someone take Zark's complaints seriously because the last thing they need is Zoltar mounting an invasion without a warning system in place. Jason then leaves the office. The male teammates all react to Jason's attitude toward Zoltar: his attitude isn't good but Keyop agrees with him.

The Luminous One confers with Zoltar and tells him that it's usually the choice of lieutenants that cause their plans to fall apart. Zoltar informs the Luminous One that his own sister, Mala, is overseeing this latest mission. The Luminous One is quite pleased with this choice: beautiful, resourceful, and dedicated to saving Spectra. The Luminous One tells Zoltar he could not have made a better choice.

Aboard the ship hovering above the city, there are five masked women total. Yana is the one who forced Jason off the road but "failed" in her mission. Yana pushes back on Mala saying there was no way that Chief Anderson and his driver survived the explosion of her rose. Mala tells her otherwise and Yana apologizes. Mala says it wasn't Yana's fault but she will attend to the next attempt herself and tells Yana to ready the explosives for tomorrow.

Chief Anderson is talking on the phone telling the other end he'll be on the train with G-Force keeping "close surveillance." When Mark asks what's going on, Chief Anderson tells him that Zoltar is targeting the Solar Express – the first monorail to circle the globe. The train is about to makes its maiden voyage. There are several points where it could be struck and Princess wonders how the chief is going to nail it down. Chief Anderson says it's difficult but he could make an educated guess. Mark suggests the long bridge span near Shelodak and the chief agrees. He tells the team that he and Mark will be on the train while the rest will cover them. Keyop wonders about Jason but Mark says there's no time to contact him. Mark also points out that someone has to hold down the fort. Princess says he won't like it and Mark says it can't be helped.

Elsewhere, Jason is driving along with a female hitchhiker named Lani Hill on an elevated freeway. Jason tells her he doesn't usually pick up hitchhikers and Lani says she doesn't usually "thumb" but her car broke down. Jason says she's lucky because there isn't a lot of traffic at this hour. He drives up to the building where Lani was headed. She thanks him for the ride before walking to the front doors. There, she meets Mala who Jason thinks looks really mean. Lani apologizes for being late and enters through the huge glass doors. Jason then makes his way to the office but no one is there. Jason looks back on the day and figures he'll check with Zark. Jason then notices the feather in the map of the Solar Express and laments being left behind.

At the train station, a PR lady named Mala Latroz meets Chief Anderson. Keyop says she looks scary and Princess shushes him. Mala leads the chief and Mark on board.

Act Two

Zark paces at Nerve Center saying Jason called in and is very upset. He says the gunner now knows how he feels, even though robots aren't supposed to feel. However, sometimes his Cogno-Capacitors pulsate furiously. Zark says that one of those times is now thinking about being aboard the solar train – the first monorail that goes around the world. At least, the Image Amplifier is behaving itself. Zark also says he has a strange sensation deep down in his Trigatron that Zoltar is up to something.

Princess, Keyop and Tiny watch the Solar Express pull out for its maiden run. After it pulls out of the station, the team members run to the Phoenix to provide cover. On board the train, Mala and Chief Anderson chat and Mark is bored to tears. He eventually gets up thinking to himself that Mala gives him the creeps. Mala says Mark doesn't like her much, which the chief says she's mistaken. While alone, Mark believes Mala reminds him of someone but he doesn't know whom.

As the train goes along, the five girls listen to Mala's orders to set their explosives on the bridge. It's wide enough for their personal rocket ships to land. Mala tells Lani, specifically, that she forgives her for allowing "that young man" to drop her off at their headquarters. She tells the girls to get on it as Mala has her own work to do. The girls leave immediately and head to the bridge. As they do so, Zark was able to get his Trigatron to work correctly and ordered all the passengers off at the last stop. He also says there's something weird about the PR lady.

On the train, Mark spots the rockets but is knocked out by Mala with the butt of her gun. The girls land on the bridge and get to work on the tressle. Meanwhile, Zark notifies Keyop because he's the closest to investigate. As Keyop is inbound, the girls have set the explosives and lit the fuse. Fortunately, Keyop is able to knock out the fuse but he calls Princess for backup as the "bridge in danger." When Keyop leaves, the fuse relights!

Back on the train, Mala tries to get rid of Mark by separating the train! She's about to kick him overboard when Mark wakes up when Zark calls him. As Mark hangs onto a part of the train, Mala tells him that she is Zoltar's sister. As the train speeds along, Chief Anderson tells her there is no way she'll get away with it. However, Mala tells him everything is going according to plan. As the head of the train speeds away, the tressle explodes.

On board their part of the train, Mala tells Chief Anderson, as goons aim their guns on him, that the Solar Express would lessen Earth's vulnerability and that cannot be allowed. Mala then gloats as to why she was picked for this mission. Chief Anderson says it's because of her "great warmth, gentleness, and great love of humanity." Mala then tells the chief she is Zoltar's sister. Then the lights go out as the train travels through a tunnel. Suddenly, Mark in his G-Force uniform replaces Chief Anderson!

Mark says Mala doesn't seem happy to see him once the lights come up. Mala leaps for a fight and the chase begins. Meanwhile, Zark directs Princess to intercept rockets that are reinforcing Mala. Princess takes out two of them when she gets them to hook onto one another. She follows the other three but the bridge explodes and there's nothing Princess can do to stop the train! The rockets appear to self-destruct with the train bearing down and fast! Mala jumps off the train just in time before the train plunges off the bridge. However, Zark directed Tiny to position there for rescue – Tiny surfaces with Mark and Chief Anderson in the bubble with him. Keyop says, "Get a medal for this one."

Princess laments that Zoltar has won again, but Mark tells that is the case – for now. He points out that the bridges and the train can be rebuilt. Tiny suggests they head home because he's getting hungry and Mark agrees – they shouldn't "cry over spilled milk." Zark tries to lessen the blow by pointing out that no one was hurt in the attack, Spectra was repelled and G-Force, along with Chief Anderson, are well and safe. Mark and Princess stop by to make sure everything is in working order. Zark says everything is running smoothly and ensures Princess he could have the Solar Express up and running again in no time. Princess also tells Mark that she was really worried about him. Mark says that's nice and he "goes" for her too but he doesn't want her to worry her "pretty face." Princess asks if he really thinks she's pretty and Rover agrees. Princess is the "best looking girl in the Solar System."
