BotP Close-up 065

Post: # 572Post Bobkat »

This week is one of my favorites because we get some peeks on how the team members spend their off time. (it's only a peek!) As well, we watch some fun dynamics in action! It's The Great Brain Robbery! Enjoy! :)

The Other Jason's write-up is here: https://www.battleoftheplanets.info/ep65.html

E65: The Great Brain Robbery

Act One

7-Zark-7 has the full-time responsibility of keeping the galaxy secure in the secret base of Center Neptune. While he's in his Ready Room, Zark wonders if the humans he's associated with knows what it's like to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week without eating of sleeping. He also wonders what it's like to eat, sleep or dream. He would dream about Susan who flicks his "On Button." On cue, Susan calls from Pluto with a Red Alert due to a strange object just being launched from Spectra.

Zark goes to his control room through the vacuum tube and flies to his monitors looking in at the Crab Nebula. He finds the object that Susan spoke about "hurtling to outer space." It has gone into Time Warp, traveling faster than the mind can think. It enters the Solar System and straight for Earth!

In the middle of the night, the invader goes to the Artificial Intelligence Center. It breaks in where scientists work on Top Secret defense projects and Zark "thinks" it could be serious! The invader breaks into the laboratory where Artificial Intelligence units are being manufactured. They resemble human brains and the invader takes the one from the center of the room. Alarms blare but it's too late! The invader takes specimens at will with its multiple tentacles with hooks on the ends.

Zark begins contacting the G-Force team in the middle of the night. Mark is asleep in bed, Jason is lounging in his camper at a racetrack, Princess and Keyop scramble out of their building with Tiny being woke up in house on the water and falling into the harbor! Zark directs them to Sector 5 and Jason tells him, "Yeah, yeah, mellow out, Zark. We'll handle it." The team rendezvous as they wake up.

They meet on some cliffs where Mark tells them that Zark tracked the stolen brain to the location. He wants them to spread out, start looking and to be ready for anything. Mark and Princess find tracks and they're still warm. But they're unfamiliar to her but things get worse when a limb reaches for her and grabs her ankle! Fortunately, her teammates aren't far away. Mark throws his sonic boomerang and cuts the limb so Princess can escape. She leaps behind some rocks leaving the piece of limb wiggling. Unfortunately, she's still separated from the team when more limbs explode out of the ground spreading the team out even more!

The limbs fly up and work as a unit while the team gather back to back. The limbs then try to attack but the team forms the Whirlwind Pyramid to beat them back. After that confrontation, the team lands on an arch only to meet a mega-monster. Mark says, "There's our thief!" The thing is ugly with a giant brain and alien eyes. It whacks one of the limbs on the arch forcing the team to take flight. They fire their weapons at it and manage to hit an eye with the yo-yo and bolos. The other eye sends out a beam barely missing Princess and Keyop thank to Jason getting them out of the way. The thing retreats as Jason fires his cablegun. The team gives chase but stopped by a huge waterfall where Mark is sure the creature is hiding.

Several small vehicles fly out of the waterfall and G-Force takes cover. Mark identifies the flyers as "Spectra pirates." The commander of "Robot Unit Three" who has hooks for hands, has pointy ears and fangs orders G-Force to surrender. Mark says they'll never give up and the Spectran commander orders the attack. Jason says, "This should be fun." He readies his cablegun with a suction end and fires. The craft lifts him off the ground just as a missile hits the spot where he was standing. He takes over a craft, kicking the driver out of the craft. Mark watches and smiles, "My turn!" He waits for one flying low enough before he leaps onto the bottom and takes that one over. Princess is next with a suction on her yo-yo and she attaches to the bottom of a craft. But rather than take it over, she sends an electrical charge and blows it up! Keyop and Tiny outrun one with Keyop pulling Tiny onto the cliff. "Go on a diet!" the smallest member tells his teammate. The commander orders his Robot Unit into retreat and they return to the waterfall.

At the retreat commences, Jason calls them "cowards" and knows they could have taken them out. Mark reminds Jason they're not there to fight, but to recover the stolen brain. Jason retorts, "Yeah. Well, I didn't start it!" Mark answers, "I didn't say you did." Mark picks up the cut limb determined to take it to Center Neptune for analysis.

At Center Neptune, Chief Anderson completes a preliminary analysis: the tentacle is made up of brain cells! The team is surprised and Keyop says, "Brainy beast." Princess asks more about what the scientists were creating – brains with traits and characteristics. Chief Anderson explains the artificial brains were different types, some dangerous, and the plan backfired on the scientists. Mark wants the unvarnished truth because they need to know what they're up against. Chief Anderson drops a bombshell: the brain they were working on including the criminal elements of Spectra. Mark calls it a "brain of evil." The chief explains that the scientists were hoping to better understand the criminal thinking of someone like Zoltar. Chief Anderson hasn't been able to confirm it but it appears Spectra has stolen the brain of evil. Keyop asks what the big deal is and the chief tells them they need the brain back, otherwise the whole galaxy is in jeopardy. The team salutes and chants, "G-Force!"

Act Two

Zark paces in the control room worried Zoltar's plans for the evil brain. He says the Federation scientists were interested in studying it but who knows what Zoltar plans to do. Zark flies to his monitors to look in on the opening day of the Annual Robot Show at the Space Dome Arena. The place is huge and there are lots of robots on display – no doubt a tempting target for Zoltar. Zark directed G-Force to attend the show with Chief Anderson and he looks in with his Tele-scanner.

At the Space Dome Arena, robots are on display under the theme of "Practicality." There are giant robots on display that work in the defense sector. However, there are many on display for use in the home and office. Different robots show off their talents including one that does the windows. Another transforms into a child's play set. The show then unmasks this year's grand prize winner: the Giant Fembot that "can be outfitted with interchangeable computer systems."

Mark isn't impressed and asks the chief why he brought them there. Chief Anderson explains the "Brain of Peace" was created as a counterpart to the brain of evil. The brain of peace was supposed to be used with the Fembot but was destroyed when Spectra broke into the research facility while stealing the brain of evil. The current plan is that the Fembot will be able to short-circuit Spectra's Brain Creature. The Fembot is completely unveiled with Mark commenting, "She'd make a nice lamp stand." Princess says, "Or a candy jar." Keyop calls her, "a zinger." Tiny says, "Not your type, Keyop." Chief Anderson tells them that the brain of peace will be installed tomorrow and help G-Force defeat the brain of evil and Spectra's Brain Creature. Mark can't believe – is the Fembot really going to be a part of the team? Chief Anderson assures Mark, "The Fembot will prove to be a powerful ally."

The lights flicker in the arena and Spectra's creature breaks in from the roof! As the crowd looks on in horror, the Brain Creature merges with the Fembot. Chief Anderson and G-Force stand frozen in shock with Keyop climbing into Tiny's arms. The merged creation flies around the room destroying several robots and blasts through the roof. Debris is everywhere.

The creature returns to the commander who is conferring with Zoltar via video. Zoltar orders Muto to take the creature back to base. Meanwhile, Zark stands shocked at his monitors saying the situation is "terrible." 1-Rover-1 sits beside him in silence. Zark is certain Zoltar plans to put the brain of evil into "that transparent robot" to create a new weapon in the base and laboratory under the waterfall.

The Brain Creature is in a tube to have whatever work done. Zoltar explains to Muto and his men that they now have a super body to go with the evil brain and Earth supplied them both. As such, Earth will destroy itself. Zoltar plans to clone the Brain Creature so that not only will Earth be invaded but also the entire galaxy! Muto orders the cloning operation to begin and the goons start the process. Massive energy is given to the Brain Creature as tiny creatures are created in test tubes. Zoltar orders deployment of their latest weapon.

Outside the waterfall, G-Force has landed knowing the secret base is somewhere under the falls. Keyop gets tangled into some tree vines thinking the creature has him. He jumps into Tiny's arms again and the pilot tells him there's nothing to worry about. Keyop kicks the vine, "Wise guy." Jason points to the falls, "There's something to worry about." The team takes cover and watches a launching bay be revealed. The creature takes off and Jason wants to go in. Mark tells him and the others to go after the Brain Creature while he takes care of the base.

The Brain Creature makes its attack with all defense forces fighting it. Jason wants to fire the bird missiles but Princess stops him, "You'll destroy the whole city!" Jason pounds the console in frustration, "We've got to do something!" Jason tells Tiny to take the Phoenix up to prepare for a steep dive but the Brain Creature grabs onto the ship mid-flight. The team is knocked around and cracks form. Princess calls out that the creature's grip is ripping the Phoenix apart. Jason tells Tiny to kick in the Turbo-Thrusters but that's already been done and they're at maximum thrust! The Phoenix is stuck!

Muto watches the attack on video monitor and orders the Phoenix crushed. He orders the Atomic Boosters engaged to take out the Phoenix and give Spectra a glorious victory. Mark is outside the laboratory discovering Spectra's plans at cloning. Meanwhile, Muto becomes frustrated at the lack of action by the Brain Creature. A goon reports it is unable to penetrate the Phoenix's hull. Zoltar shows up on video demanding that Muto follow orders. He wants the Brain Creature brought back to the base.

Mark interrupts the party "once and forever." Muto calls Mark "arrogant Earthling" and orders the goons to open fire. A fight ensues with Mark throwing his boomerang cutting the lines in the cloning laboratory. Muto catches the boomerang and throws it back destroying the rest of the laboratory. Muto tries hand-to-hand combat with Mark and looses as the G-Force commander makes a break for it.

On the Phoenix, the ship is being vibrated apart and nearing its limits. Princess says they'll soon break apart. Jason orders cross hatch right Servo circuits to alternating left Servo with Tiny acknowledging, "Right Servo to left, check." The Phoenix finally breaks free of the Brain Creature. Tiny makes a steep dive for the creature after Jason tells him to take it out. They get there but rather than ramming it, the Phoenix bounces off the creature with its nose. Jason tells Tiny to back off but he can't – they're caught in the Magnetic Force Shield. Princess says they've been stuck before and they've always managed to get out, "We've got to keep trying."

Back at the Spectran base, Zoltar is quite unhappy with Muto. All the brain clones have been "ruined" and the last thing Zoltar wants is for the Brain Creature to fall into G-Force's hands. He orders Muto to press the doomsday button and Muto complies, crawling to the stand with the button. Meanwhile, Tiny keeps trying to break the Phoenix out of the shield but Mark is able to dock and board. He runs onto the bridge reporting the laboratory is destroyed and now they have to recover the brain. Muto is on the verge of pressing the button when Mark orders them to go to Fiery Phoenix. The gauge goes into the red area and the Phoenix transmutes breaking from the shield and melting the merged creature. Muto presses the button destroying the rest of Spectra's base.

The Phoenix returns to normal with Chief Anderson contacting them via video. He praises their mission success and informs them that President Kane has decreed that any artificial brains created from now on are to be used for peaceful purposes only. Mark cracks, "Well, at least the President has a good brain." The Phoenix flies home.

Zark praises G-Force too saying they're intelligent. When Zark is lounging in his Ready Room, Susan calls asking if the "brain robber" has been caught. Zark is surprised by her call but tells her the brain robber was destroyed. She's disappointed and he's really surprised by her request – she wanted the brain robber! Susan explains that she wanted the Fembot's body.
