Hi Cure DragonEagle,
Cure DragonEagle 255 wrote: Thu Jan 28, 2021 3:04 am This delightful yet typo filled article is a heartwarming retrospective look at Astro Boy... Which also implies MeTV might be looking to air anime. Battle Of The Planets is a shoe in for it! BIG TEN!

Great, that was nice to read. Thanks for sharing! You never know, they might be open to considering some of those older shows. It would be fun to see them aired again, wouldn't it? Astro Boy, Kimba, Gigantor, Speed Racer and Battle. One series every weekday for an hour... Nice. :-)

Once in awhile I log into MeTV and I know one of the major complaints is that the articles are sometimes full of typos.

Considering it's from 2016, it's kind of a long shot for Astro Boy to make onto the airwaves. Still, I'd be happy with one cycle (they've done it with a couple of shows I love and one of those cycles hooked me in!). I wouldn't count Battle out though, you never know what'll show up on these classic stations (and there's a lot because television shows aren't made the same and give me the old stuff anytime! Obviously, I'm not the only one with that opinion.)

Sorry, I should have clarified - I meant the original Astro Boy program from 1963. It would be great to see the first five major Japanese animation series shown in America back on the air. :-)

Oh I know you meant the original Astro Boy. The article on MeTV that was linked to was from 2016. I should have been clearer. ;)

Ahhh, okay! I didn't even look at when the article was published. When I saw the date you mentioned, I was thinking about the much newer Little Astro Boy series - which I think finally showed up around 2019.

You never know though. With their recent success in airing cartoons, MeTV may start looking for more. I watched something on their channel over the weekend and saw promos saying The Jetsons is due to start soon!

AWWWWWW MAN! I didnt see the date! Sorry for getting everyone's hopes up. I do think it would be a terrific addition to the lineup. And I think MeTV shared that article again which could imply something.

No worries! That is one thing I like about MeTV's articles, they're still good reads.

Yes, Astro Boy would be a great addition. And yes, The Jetsons are set to begin airing soon. They've also been running The Flintstones for a while. If they haven't been on the air a year yet, they're closing in on that timeframe. (I've been watching Adam-12 and The Flintstones are on just after that and I want to say they've followed for a while but I don't know if it's been a year yet.)

"MeTV+" channel to debut May 15, 2021 in Chicago and Phoenix and possibly in other Weigel-owned tv stations (Los Angeles, San Francisco,, Milwaukee, St Louis, Houston, Salt Lake City, Hartford-New Haven CT, Seattle, Nashville, Glenwood Spring CO, Dallas, South Bend IN) and other cities in later periods as a digital subchannel. The Morning MeTV Toon In With Me show to be rerun at night on the new channel at 11pm Central. Night time toons for those missing the show in the morning. https://www.robertfeder.com/.../weigel-expands.../...

I really hope they do action cartoons next! Even Gatchaman would be welcome.

Ooh!!! This sounds fun!

I wonder if they'll use the MeTV+ for just toons or if they'll show other shows too. (it would help if I read the article before posting) They're expanding what they can air.

This is exciting nonetheless. :D There is something to be said for older TV!

As long as it hits Portland at some point in the future, I'll be happy! :)

Nice! That's interesting. I hope that reaches my area at some point. I could certainly also stand to see some Laurel & Hardy, Three Stooges and cartoons late at night.

I own so much of that type of programming on DVD and Blu-ray already... but if it's on TV, I'll still tune in to watch. I don't know why. :-)
