Yeah Bobkat, I totally get you. Without wanting to cast any aspersions or on anyone in particular, I've noticed in some interviews there seems to be kind of a surface-level understanding of some things in the series and that had me a bit "oh dear" but still wanting to keep an eye out either way. It's like some people see Gatchaman and think it's merely a cartoony and corny/grim and depressing dichotomy, and then try to go through a checklist, which well, it feels like this arc was doing if it was one writer working off another's outlines for where they were going as well.
The pause issues have been fun, but I hope they aren't the only bits of levity.

One thing with these villains too, is how even in one episode of the series, characters that were double-agents or had conflict going on still had more personality in such limited story than what's been going on with the trainees. There's slow-burn, and then there's just people falling so flat. There definitely has to be a good balance struck in tone, themes, and the characters' motives and voices.

And yeah Stardust, you'd think (and well, hope) that if Katse's had this backfire, it'd be pretty opportune to see the classic "X mad at Katse failing again" sequence and their dialogue, which might not be as interesting in still form but nailing the dialogue or having a panel of his eyes burning red or just vanishing on Katse the way he'd do would have such familiarity.

Hi Stardust,

Thanks for all the comments and for sharing your thoughts on everything.

I wish I could comment on specifics, but I really can't unless the comic creative team has said something first. Comic information is their news to share. Tatsunoko is fully involved with the series.

That is fine, Bobkat told me. I had forgotten you're involved with it.

So I reread the ending to 15 and want to add a few more thoughts on things I noticed. So spoiler alert.
Spoiler
1. Pay attention to Raven's costume, it's very much like the teams, with the wings and such, even the bird name theme.
2. Katse says something that I feel is very much foreshadowing, "the future is promised for no one."
3. My final thought, those guys at the end say 1 year has passed, in the series, the war is about 1 year. So I'm wondering, are these guys from Selectol?
Just some food for thought.

I just saw the pre order is up for the Red Impulse comic. Is that going to be a one shot or is it going to be a mini series?

I remember Steve Orlando saying it was a mini, and it looks like the TPB release was tentatively set for September on book sites. I guess we'd have to wait for full April 2026 solicitations or further ones to find out how many issues, if it'll be the usual 4 they've had for minis so far.

I think Orlando did say that to me as well. It would make sense for it to be a mini, it would be the only way to tell the whole story, in my opinion.

This site has some quotes from a press release:
https://fanboyfactor.com/2026/01/mad-ca ... d-impulse/

"From the moment Gatchaman was announced, I’ve been waiting for this! The high-flying ace pilots of Red Impulse are finally coming to the page! And their solo adventures are going to be every bit the high-octane blockbusters you’d expect! How daring and badass do you have to be to be the people the Science Ninja Team calls when they’re in too deep?! Get ready for Top Gun-style action as you’ve never seen—as the pilots of Red Impulse Squadron conquer four deadly missions the likes of which even Gatchaman has never seen! For years, they’ve saved the world and never taken an ounce of glory. We’ve never even known…until now!”

So, looks like four different adventures in four issues, possibly.
