Anyway, I suspect this could be a longer-ish post/thread because I had lots of thoughts going through my head last night just before I went to bed. I'm thinking the title of thread would be a good one based on what I want to express.

As I've written before, I hope those working on the film will stay within the spirit of the series. Obviously what sold in 1978 is not necessarily going to sell today. That's reality and fact.
So, let's start with what we know from the series.
First, the universe is much more complex than some in the past have given credit for. The Intergalactic Federation of Peaceful Planets is locked into a fight with Spectra. While this is pretty cut and dried on the surface, it's anything but. There are spies afoot on both sides (Intelligence has to be gathered somehow!) as they seem to know an awful lot about each other. This is before we start talking about the individual planets involved such as Riga, Alpha-Three and Sigma Minor.
Slave trading also occurs ("Super Space Spies") and there's lots of encryption devices floating around ("Curse of the Cuttlefish", "Capture of the Galaxy Code" and "Defector to Spectra"). Not to mention stolen devices/vehicles ("Space Rocket Escort") and plans ("The Sky is Falling!").
In other words, it's involved. And this is just the background! I plan on posting about the characters too.
