The space travel, space suits and even a 7 Zark 7 esque robot. I could think SOME were coincidential but not ALL OF THEM together. Was Gatchaman II made for export. I know Precure references both dubs that were made of it.

I would consider Star Wars and the domestic success of the Yamato feature film to be much more of an influence on the outer space angle for Gatchaman II. Battle had no impact in Japan. I doubt most of the staff ever saw an episode or knew much about it.

Almost all of Tatsunoko's productions were created with international airing in mind (perhaps barring their 1971 animated World War II documentary, Decision). Tatsuo Yoshida had an ambitious desire for his studio's output to be seen globally from the start. The studio's motto was, and still is, "To create dreams for the children of the world."

I didnt mean that Tatsunoko Pro were fans of Battle but rather "Eh, lets put these elements from the dub to appease the licensors and get MORE MONEY!" I already know Battle was niche in Japan. Gatchaman was too iconic to be outdone by a Macekre dub, unlike Golion. Still, while you got my question wrong, you still gave me an unique and fresh perspective I didnt consider at all. I thought I answered right at the start by saying Star Wars and Yamato were likely the main influences for outer space and robots appearing in Gatchaman II. Those concepts in Battle existed because of Star Wars anyhow. So it all comes back to that.

Naturally, Tatsunoko added those elements with the thought of attracting as many viewers in Japan and around the world as possible. They were popular with youngsters. But were they included because of Battle? I highly doubt it.

That's because I really didnt consider that question. As in, I only wanted to ask if Battle was to credit. But you always give full course meal answers that are very insteresting, informative and complete. Ironically Pretty Cure is one franchise that does reference its dubs, but ironically those dubs were flops. They werent generation defining classics like Battle. On the other hand, the most referenced dub was made by Toei Animation. The show's creators themselves.

And to be honest I dont even know what I meant before, I am young but have very bad attention span so I forget why I was asking right away, lol.

But seriously, great answer. Also ironically (I am probably using this word wrong) Starblazers was also a huge hit too. Maybe that's why Tatsunoko imitating feels so familiar. Not due to the dubs but that they were both huge hits in Japan.

EDIT: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I see! I kept missing it but you answered quite clearly. Gatchaman II didnt imitate Battle, it coincidentially imitated STAR WARS. I mean, I DIDNT see that part. Oh wow, Star Wars is really influential. Hilariously coincidences all around!
