Cover from the Gatchaman script for episode 1

An example of a Gatchaman script, in this case from episode 1, Gatchaman Vs. Turtle King. This script is uncommon as it does not contain the amount of information on its cover that the standard scripts did. The cover above says simply "Gatchaman" with "Number 1 Story" below it. The red handwritten note at the top reads "Corrected Script."

These scripts contained the final version of the dialogue, as it was set for recording by the voice actors. In many cases, lines and scenes were changed on the spot during recording, and in most instances, these changes were noted with handwritten indications within the scripts.

Scripts were printed for most of the production staff, from the producers, down to the people that did the editing. One of the other main uses for these scripts was by the editing staff, who would make copious notes for scene changes, plus the lengths and names and locations where any music cues were used.

They were printed on medium weight colored cover stock (concurrent episodes used a different color covers so they didn't get confused during production) and the interiors were printed on pulp. The pulp interiors were double stapled and the covers were glued to the interiors.

The scripts were printed from handwritten sources, unlike the scenarios which were printed from typeset sources.

Due to their age, the scripts are very fragile and tend to tear and fall apart easily.
