I think the deal was fair, and even if it wasnt, once the rights expired Tatsunoko regained all rights anyway.
I heard the Speed Racer deal was pretty unfair to Tatsunoko, they didnt see much profit, even considering how big a hit Speed Racer was outside Japan.
But this was a question I was dying to make and I finally remembered it. Other Jason, Can you give us your insight and wisdom?
Was the deal Sandy Frank made with Gatchaman more fair Speed Racer's?

Hi Cure DragonEagle,
With the creation of Speed Racer Enterprises in 1991, I think a whole new agreement was created. So if there was anything Tatsunoko wasn't happy with in the original deal (and I don't know that there was), there would have been a chance to address it before this more modern one was completed.
What I can point out is Tatsunoko's deal with Sandy Frank Entertainment was also extended (and expanded) once, and it ended amicably for both companies.
I can't really speak about the deal made for Mach GoGoGo to be distributed as Speed Racer, since I simply don't know much about it. On the surface it seemed like many of the rights were similar for each, but I'm not positive about that.Cure DragonEagle 255 wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 5:41 pm I think the deal was fair, and even if it wasnt, once the rights expired Tatsunoko regained all rights anyway.

Mr Ippei Kuri mentioned it during an interview for Speed Racer I cant find anymore. They saw extremely little money from Speed Racer. I hope they got more money once the uncut subs were released.
