It looks like Simon&Schuster, Hudson Booksellers, and Barnes and Nobles' websites have already listed some future Gatchaman Mad Cave TPBs in advance for later this year and 2026. These might be low-key spoilery because of that, so thought I'd put them here:

https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/ ... 1545821039
Vol.1 Deluxe Edition coming in December

https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/ ... 1545823408
Red Impulse TPB in February, meaning Steve Orlando's mini will probably be the next one out?

https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/ ... 1545823392
Gatchaman vol.3, also in February. Sam Humphries is listed as the author, not sure if they're referring to #11 itself or he takes over. We'll see with further solicits!

https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/ ... 1545823637
Vol. 2 Deluxe Edition coming in March (hopefully the pesky editing and color errors in recent issues will be corrected here, if not by the standard one? heh)

Otherwise, about the series itself...I'm awfully curious to see what Bunn and co. have "cooking" (as some say these days) with the remaining trainees and their corruption arc. He wasn't kidding when he said he liked to torment fans, although a lot of those trainees seemed to be heading in the way of unfortunate cannon fodder type characters. Still, since it has to be fit within the 105 yet the writers have alluded to seeing where to take the characters beyond this, I'm also curious to see if any of them will survive or fall in Galactor and what else is planned and how things balance out between the OCs and the canon characters.

Joe's one-shot also has me really hyped, especially with the solicit and wondering whether or not Steve Orlando knows of certain could've-beens for the franchise that he may or may not subvert in such a dark way. Other than that though, I'm really curious to see how he handles Joe in the characterization department. Nicola Scott's artwork preview on her Twitter already looked promising!

I figured it out already and then got validated when I read the synopsis on the Mad Cave site for the next few comics.
And according to Chris Batista, it's gonna be bad....

Yeah, I guess Bunn's warning and how his talk of how there were "status quo changes" was specifically more about these OCs. It's definitely a lot easier to do with those when you have to keep the canon characters as they are (or at the least physically unscathed while being potentially traumatized more), and give everyone the vague sense this is somewhere in the series.
It makes sense that the drama and destruction is just going to build up, though hopefully there will be some balance too since I remembered how there was once some talk about Tatsunoko that how even with the tragic and heavy content in Gatchaman they wanted viewers to also come away with "happy tears" of relief. Though, maybe those inbetween arc/break issues are what would consistently provide the gentler or more fun kind of tales.

What's pretty curious to me too is how Bunn said this was originally pitched as a sequel to the show, which I wonder if we'll hear a little more or not about how it changed from that to having to be within the 105 (if he was conscious of Joe's fate and II, or if he was trying to do his own thing or have teams of OCs right away).

This guy on Reddit says we'll be getting some team-up one-shots coming. He seems to have the impression Jinpei's is the last solo one, but I remember a Dr. Nambu one is also slated by Steve Orlando. Guess we have to wait for more solicits to roll along!

Hi all!

This isn't exactly discussion of the content, but now that Gatchaman #13 is out... I'll offer quick congratulations to Mad Cave and the series! This is now the longest-running main series of any related US comic title. Western Publishing's Battle of the Planets issues stopped at #10 and Top Cow's main Battle of the Planets series stopped at issue #12 (although it had a lot of side stories).

There's a lot more to come from Mad Cave's main Gatchaman series, but I wanted to recognize this record-breaker.

Anyone else pre-order Vol. 1 Deluxe Edition hardcover due out October 7th, but haven't received it yet?
By email several weeks ago I was told it was delayed. A week after that, he said he'd get back in a week, but now nothing. I emailed again yesterday, but no response yet. It's listed as currently available on their website as well as on other sites.

So, these three OCs at the end of issue #15 definitely pose an interesting question as to who exactly they are and what their role in further issues will be. Some kind of nature gods? Aliens? It makes me think of how Rei Kosumi vaguely figured there was an alien race that opposed Selector, but this definitely seems out of the usual bounds of the franchise even if these may be "hidden" characters.
Kind of giving me memories of the alien forces in the Top Cow run, except rolled out differently and not so much being thrown at the wall at once. And then there's the Raven and who he could be, and if his debut is connected to theirs or not. It'll be a big wait to see what they're doing with this, although I feel the whole trainee slaughterfest and the implications of arc 2 still aren't really felt or given as much dramatic weight as you'd think (especially you'd think Nambu would want to investigate how there'd have been some kind of betrayal from the apparent martial artist he hired).
Same with the talk of how the Beta Team were their "friends", when I guess you'd have to imagine all the fun times or further characterization off-panel and the whole betrayal and fight feeling like it was part of a checklist for the arc. Sure, there's the betrayal, but they also killed a lot of other trainees and injured Jinpei, which feels like that wasn't really commented on and he sure moved on from that fast to where they act shocked again that the remaining trainees are Blackbirds (when Jinpei already had let them know that those ones had betrayed them to Galactor, and there being the belief Daiko had too). Maybe that has to do with the change in writer or Humphries working off Bunn's outlines? Not sure.
I hope the next arc has a better follow-through from this one, though, whatever may be coming next.
