Hi all,
New Battle of the Planets action figures are coming!
Toy makers Plastic Meatball have acquired the license for 3.75" scale Battle of the Planets action figures. No photos are available yet, but they are slated to be released in 2022. Their action figures are styled with limited articulation, like the original Star Wars toys.
Plastic Meatball's stated goal is to: "Create products that appear as though they’ve traveled through time from the store shelves of an alternate past, and evoke memories in our customers that are priceless!"
To me, that makes it seem likely that the figures are going to be based on the original Battle series, and not on designs for the upcoming feature film.
Watch for more news!

I'm eagerly watching this space for when there is more information about these!

Cool! I looked at some of their previous releases - very retro! I'll be happy if their BotP figures are in the same vein.

Hi all!
This was first posted a while ago, and there is now some news!
Plastic Meatball debuted their prototypes for the first wave of Battle of the Planets figures at WonderCon in Anaheim, California today!

As you can see from the photos, there will be versions of Mark, Princess, 7-Zark-7 and Zoltar for the first offerings. One of them may be sold at a separate time from the others, I'm not sure yet.
I tried to get pictures without too much glare. I realized after I left the show that I forgot to get pictures of their backs, but you will get the idea of the figures from these. Each will be of the 1970s Kenner Star Wars Style - five points of articulation and an accessory. Mark and Princess will have transparent colored visors. If you're wondering what 7-Zark-7 is holding... it's his oil can!
The packaging prototype is also not final, but gives a good idea of how each character's backing card may look.
Here is some video shot by Parks and Cons.
They are due toward the end of the year. Prices to come.

I'm thrilled they are doing a Zoltar in the first run. Thanks for the pics and info Jason.
