7-Zark-7 fails his latest physical and has to have a number of his systems worked on and transplanted. Everything is going wrong, even his memory and ability to work. Unfortunately, he is even unable to look in on Spectra to see their latest weapon.
The Giant Space Bat is undergoing a test of its Force-Ray. Lotak, the commander of the ship reports to Zoltar that they downed a manned spacecraft during the trial. Zoltar is upset, thinking that the downing of the ship will get G-Force on their backs. So, in order to demonstrate the power of his new weapon, he orders the commander to attack Metropolitan City on Earth immediately.
Later, Mark is indeed in his plane looking for the wreckage of the spacecraft that was brought down. He finds some debris in a mountain range and as he pokes through it, Mark recognizes it was shot down by a weapon he's never seen before. No one responds to Mark's calls, but as he's about to leave, he hears a gasp. When he turns, he sees an unconscious young man.
Back at Center Neptune, G-Force and Chief Anderson surround the young man, who is named Jim. He is conscious but very groggy. They try talking with him but he doesn't respond. Chief Anderson thinks he's probably trying to block out whatever happened to him, but they really need to know how his ship was brought down.
Chief Anderson takes Jim to a more peaceful setting, but nothing is getting him to talk. When Jim notices Keyop playing with his bolo weapon, he asks to try. Keyop lets him use the bolo and Jim throws it at a passing pigeon, bringing it down cleanly. Right after, Jim has a bad and painful memory reaction when Princess brings something up and he recalls a Force-Ray shot him down.
G-Force is sent out against the Space Bat but they’re unable to get clear when the Space Bat flaps its wings and causes a massive air disturbance. As the Phoenix is being buffeted around, the Space Bat opens fire with its Force-Ray and shears off the Phoenix's rudder. With no other choice, G-Force transmutes into the Fiery Phoenix just to escape. But they come out of transmute too early and are caught full on with the Force-Ray. The Phoenix is driven from the sky and the Space Bat's commander is thrilled with the results.
G-Force is able to survive the crash and 7-Zark-7 is busily preparing a new Phoenix. During the downtime, Mark and Jim are out riding motorcycles when a Spectra helicopter tries to kill them both. They lose their motorcycles but jump safely into a nearby body of water to escape. After the ordeal, Jim's memory comes back.
He remembers he was taken on board the Space Bat and hypnotized. Desperate for any information that may help them defeat it, Mark wonders if getting him on board the Space Bat may help. Jim agrees to go along. The new Phoenix is ready and the team set off with Jim. They find the Space Bat and Mark leaps, with Jim in tow, onto the upper deck of the Spectra machine.
Mark and Jim make it to the Space Bat's control room, but Lotak activates a posthypnotic suggestion he placed in Jim's mind. He gives a gun to Jim and tells him G-Force is his enemy. Before Jim can fire, Mark throws his boomerang and knocks Lotak out. Jim remembers he had placed a bomb on board the Space Bat before he was hypnotized and shows Mark where the bomb is hidden. Once the panel is opened, the bomb sets to detonate in three minutes. Mark and Jim leap from the Space Bat just before it blows up. They’re picked up by the Phoenix to head back to Center Neptune.

Name: Space Bat
Type: Giant Mechanical Monster
Body Shape: Bat
Origin: Planet Spectra
Sighting: Planet Earth
Weapons: Force Ray, wind generator
Flight Capable: Yes
Crew: Yes
Status: Destroyed |
The Bat's main weapon was the Force Ray, fired from the leading edges of its wings. The ray was able to destroy buildings and cities with ease. The Bat was well armored and unharmed after attack from Earth's remote-controlled jet fighters. It was also not damaged after attack from missiles from the Phoenix. When the Space Bat flapped its wings, the wind from it disrupted the Phoenix's flight. Using its Force Ray, the Space Bat was even able to withstand and defeat the Fiery Phoenix. The Space Bat was destroyed when Jim activated a bomb he had planted within in earlier. |
