"I'm sorry I'm always so right." 7-Zark-7 17.

7-Zark-7 is a skillful and highly extraordinary robot 36 who performs a multitude of roles in the ongoing defense and protection of Earth and its allies. He is based on Earth in Center Neptune which is located 900 fathoms beneath the sea somewhere off the West Coast of the United States 1. He is in charge of the complex operation 41. His work area is referred to as the Think Tank 75 and is located in the top levels of the Center Neptune building 62, 75 (sometimes called Nerve Center Control 16). He is the only robot in Center Neptune and he is at his controls day and night 2. Most of 7-Zark-7's designs were incorporated into the building of Center Neptune 5. He is fastidious about keeping his monitors clean 55, 6, 30, 68, 10, 54, 83, 42, 44, 84, 5, 9, 3, 4, 51, 95, since among other things, dust can give the false impression of invading ships 10.

The mechanical part of 7-Zark-7’s job involves making reports and issuing clearance to space traffic between Federation planets 75, plus monitoring space flights and re-entries 2. 7-Zark-7 also monitors severe weather manifestations on Earth, such as quakes, floods and tornadoes 59. But his primary job is to act as a constant guardian against enemy aliens from outer space 59. He is a finely-tooled robot programmed to respond to any interplanetary threat 57. As such, he watches over the Galaxies 3, 67, Earth 87 and all the planets and stars 22 of the Intergalactic Federation, large or small 25, for any sign of alien space invaders. He always has to keep his guard up against Spectra 77 and maintains a never-ending vigil at Center Neptune to safeguard the security of the Universe 8, 10, 65. It is a grueling task 83, but 7-Zark-7 is able to work seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day, never eating or sleeping 14, 65, 83 keeping his attention constantly focused on everything that happens within his Security Perimeters 87. These Security Permieters, as defined in Cosmic Manual 8-B, include the entire Universe 87. Whenever there is trouble 7-Zark-7 always looks at the Crab Nebulae, home of Planet Spectra, first 14.

In another crucial part of his functions, 7-Zark-7 is tasked with monitoring G-Force day and night 1, 62 and acting as their coordinator 1. All vital information clears through 7-Zark-7 1, 62 and if there are any problems, he forwards all alerts and warnings to the correct agency right away, usually Galaxy Security or G-Force 15.

7-Zark-7's standard appearance

We do have a few interesting tidbits about 7-Zark-7’s past. We know that he is a Central Defense Robot 100. He is either an Aries 92 or a Virgo 47, and he is still under factory warranty 79. He has a “grandfather,” called 4-Zark-4 21. 7-Zark-7 is a handcrafted robot made by Quanto-Tobor Labs 92 at the Robot Clinic and Laboratory 16 and he has the phrase “Custom Made” stamped somewhere on his back 16. He was not built with a self-destruct button 27. He began his work at Center Neptune on Program 2020, code Z-40, Timephase 90 58. He has never left Center Neptune 74 and early on, he had never met any of G-Force 15 or anyone else with whom he works, in person 49.

7-Zark-7 is a study in frustrating contradiction. For a robot that claims he has been programmed to feel no personal emotion or attachment 87 and has not been programmed to understand human emotion 43, he certainly seems to show a lot of human characteristics and traits.

Probably foremost among his characteristics is the nervousness and anxiety he exhibits. He worries about himself almost to the point of hypochondria, such as when he wonders about needing glasses 1, becoming nearsighted 4, or worrying Mark is going to pull his plug and flick his off switch because he thinks he has an incurable case of malfunction 49. Even though G-Force is capable 1, he admits to worrying about the team 8 on nearly every mission they undertake, and about Keyop in particular since he's the smallest and so different from the others 69.

7-Zark-7 is very dedicated to his job and he's proud to be a part of G-Force 2. He cares deeply about the team and considers them to be his family 36, 7, 101, the only family he's ever had or known 80, 12. Princess means a lot to him 40 and he pays special attention to her, although he doesn't know just why 1. Nothing comes before his duty to G-Force 8 and he has been shown as willing to stay at his station until a particular mission is completed 39, 40, 91. In yet another human characteristic, 7-Zark-7 longs for the day when he will be able to join G-Force on one of their missions 21, 75, 67, 51. 7-Zark-7 claims he's the physical type who craves action 75. He notes that he finds his Think Tank confining and sometimes feels like a creature in an aquarium 68, yet he knows he belongs at Center Neptune and is needed there 1. But he would happily work with G-Force if given a chance 49, 88.

When 7-Zark-7 finally meets Mark and Princess in person, they come up to his Think Tank to wish him a happy birthday 49. Princess ends up kissing him on the head which causes him to giggle uncontrollably 49. Other times when Princess kisses him, 7-Zark-7 says he feels tingly inside 7. One time Princess' kiss allows his slipped FOSDIC to go back into place 79. 7-Zark-7 is torn between his feelings for Princess and his feelings for Susan, another early warning robot like himself. Princess is so close, but Susan really flicks his "on" button 53, 65. He's not sure who he's more fond of and it's an answer he can't come up with 53, although he hopes that Susan will understand about Princess kissing him 79. Princess' mind is made up though, she says she loves 7-Zark-7, but like a father 40.

Even if he isn't aware of it, it's clear that 7-Zark-7's private secretary Susan 12, 47 is the biggest love in his life. Unfortunately for both of them, she's stationed way out on Pluto 9 where she is part of the Early Warning System 4. They have never met in person 47, 8. Like 7-Zark-7, Susan is a robot who was constructed at Quanto-Tobor Labs 92. He thinks she has a lovely voice and he says that her circuits are compatible with his 47. The two robots frequently engage in spirited, innuendo-laden flirting sessions across the vast expanse of space 25, 27, 55, 2, 11, 10, 83, 87, 44, 5, 45, 71, 4, 60, 100, 33, 63, 43. 7-Zark-7 can be embarrassed by this sometimes when 1-Rover-1 is present and he's asked Susan to call him back later when he's alone 71. Susan seems to delight in looking in on 7-Zark-7 while he's taking an oil shower 60, 4, 100! One time when 7-Zark-7 was sent to inspect the Early Warning System on Pluto, Susan was sent to Earth, so the two missed meeting one another 26. Most times, Susan will contact 7-Zark-7 through a little speaker located next to his Slant Board 55 in his Ready Room, although she does contact him in the Think Tank as well. The speaker in 7-Zark-7's Ready Room can also be used by Anderson 98.

Even though 7-Zark-7 works alone at Center Neptune and claims to be the only robot there, he does have a little robot dog companion named 1-Rover-1 whom he requested 21. He thinks 1-Rover-1 is a robot's best friend 101 and the little dog can communicate with 7-Zark-7 through an electronic barking noise. The two robots frequently poke fun at one another 11, 88, 8 and 7-Zark-7 looks after 1-Rover-1 like a real pet by feeding him 11, 48, 87, 37, 97, 26, 95 and playing with him 16, 43, 95.

7-Zark-7 also shows an emotional range of things he likes and dislikes. He really enjoys it when things are at peace in the Universe 22, and he loves to design new spaceships 7 and to give out information 8. He can get excited 8 and one of the real pleasures of his job is being able to bring the Phoenix back home after another successful mission 88.

7-Zark-7 can get irritated 31 and part of his irritation comes from the fact that people don't always keep him informed of their plans 68 and they don't always listen to his opinions 57. He also dislikes inactivity 17 and Rock music drives him crazy because he has a tin ear 41. He was also quite upset at missing the chance to meet Susan when he was sent to Pluto 26. He has been programmed for friendship, and although he isn't programmed for hate, he claims to come close when it concerns Zoltar 2.

Many times 7-Zark-7 wishes he were capable of additional programming or other opportunities. For example, he wishes he could blush, but isn't programmed for it 83. He wishes he could have been a big league ball player as an outfielder or pitcher, but figures with his control and concentration, he'd throw a no-hitter every time out 63. He claims not to be programmed for practical jokes 17, but occasionally he makes what he thinks could be considered jokes 1 and wishes he were programmed for humor so he could appreciate himself 87.

7-Zark-7 is rather boastful and makes no secret of the fact he thinks robots and computers are superior. After all, he reminds us, he is not programmed for error 51. He does not like to admit to weakness and he likes to handle everything by himself 31. He also claims it is impossible to confuse a computer 53. He wishes G-Force were like him, machine made, unbreakable and guaranteed forever 99. 7-Zark-7 has extra confidence knowing robots are building robots at the Robot Clinic and Laboratory 16.

He is full of self-importance as well, and says he isn't a glory-hound 47. But he also says that without him all of the complex equipment in Center Neptune is just a pile of probes, sensors and reactors 21. He refers to himself as the Nerve Center of the Center Neptune operation 21 and the brains of the organization 75. 7-Zark-7 considers himself to be a highly-intelligent robot 62 and claims that he has never made a mistake 18. He has stated that he's the master mechanical mind behind all of G-Force's amazing devices 47. He has also invented special weapons for G-Force when needed, such as the Frigid Midget 22 and the Freeze Ray 90. 7-Zark-7 has reinvented and redesigned the Phoenix a number of times as well 22, 67, 60, 54. He claims he is always in factory fresh working order 25 and always likes to look his best 35. When informed that a newly discovered planet was named "Zarkadia" in his honor, 7-Zark-7 starts referring to it as "my world 3." When Zoltar tries to take over computers on Earth, 7-Zark-7 is worried that one of Zoltar's first targets will be him 16.

7-Zark-7 says he does not get any time off or take vacations, but he frequently does take oil breaks and fantasizes about where he would go on a vacation 62. He has different types of oil breaks which he indulges in his Nerve Center Ready Room. To get from his Think Tank to his Ready Room he uses a glass elevator tube 55, also called a Transport Tube 42. Going up and down in the Transport Tube relaxes him 42. The first type of break is an oil shower 84, 4, 100, 23, 52, 79, in which he uses a variety of different types of oil. The second is a ten-second oil break 55, 2 (sort of, he was resting his modulators), 10, 24, 11, 48, 74, 16, 54, 83, 42, 44, 47, 9, 37, 45, 59, 49, 71, 86, 33, 65, 23 (unseen), 93, 76, 101, 26, which he takes on his Slant Board. He uses an oil can to apply the oil 55. One time, his ten-second oil break ends up lasting thirty seconds because he accidentally hit his "off" button. Susan and 1-Rover-1 become concerned and have to wake him up 25. Finally, 7-Zark-7 will occasionally take shots of rust inhibitor in his Ready Room to keep from freezing up 99.

While on his breaks he frequently reads books, which he finds relaxing 42 because they give him a calm circuitry 51. 7-Zark-7 can read an entire book at a glance 83, usually in only two seconds thanks to his programming from the Department of Ultra Cybernetic Engineering 42. He can also read a whole set of encyclopedias in five seconds 54. A few of the books 7-Zark-7 has been known to read are the latest on Astronomy, Space Travel, Intergalactic Communication and Computer Systems 83, a book on the history of Pluto 93, a book on the Anatomy of Computerized Robotoid Circuitry called "The Perfect Robot," which makes him think of Susan 83, "The Power of Positive Computing" 51 and "The Care and Maintenance of Your Pet Robot Dog" 89.

7-Zark-7 enjoys several different types of oil for different reasons. Among them are light-bodied oil from 1988 (a good year), which he uses for his ten-second oil breaks because it is refreshing 41, a 10-40 weight, non-additive because it is perfect for all occasions 11 and lightweight oil to relax his thermocouples 59. 7-Zark-7 once uses oil he picks up on sale and even though it's just a domestic peanut oil, it hits the spot 76. He also tries a new brand of organic petrol - he thinks has an excellent bouquet and splendid aroma and he likes it better than the low octane which has synthetic additives 101. In the shower, 7-Zark-7 finds cold oil showers refreshing 4, in which he uses peanut oil 52, anti-rust 60, olive oil 79 and high-grade machine oil 23. 7-Zark-7 is known to sing when he takes an oil shower 60, 100. He once receives a gift of some imported oil from some scientists for helping in their rescue 24 and also receives a can of vintage 10-40 oil from Princess when she returns from a vacation on Venus. He particularly likes this one because it has the smooth body you only get with imports 93. Imported non-friction oil brings out the tiger in 7-Zark-7 88.

To further ease his tension, 7-Zark-7 keeps himself in G-Force shape during lulls. He practices martial arts and can smash a solid steel door with his powerful kick 91. He has a boomerang like Mark's which he sometimes uses for target practice 93. Although he says he is not programmed for singing 23, he does in fact sing 79, but off-key 8. He later makes the more accurate claim that he wasn't programmed to sing properly 4. He has been known to sing his school's alma-mater 8. He also shows an interest in dancing the Funky FOSDIC, but finds out that he's terrible at it 88.

7-Zark-7 does have a bad habit of taking breaks at inopportune times. In the middle of the worst disaster the Earth has ever seen, probably when they need him the most, he takes a break in his Ready Room because he's afraid that his central core will just burn out from answering so many emergency calls. He figures there's nothing he can do, it's all in G-Force's hands. He isn't even coordinating their mission at this point 53.

7-Zark-7 has a cape and sometimes a helmet 18, 25, 55, 6, 24, 73, 30, 48, 68 which he wears while in the Think Tank. The cape can allow him to fly from one side of the room to the other 25, 41, 2, 6, 24, 73 (attempt), 11, 48, 68, 74, 10, 16, 83, 12, 42, 44, 47, 84, 5, 9, 37, 45, 59, 35, 49, 71, 86, 96, 3, 4, 14, 22, 97, 7, 60, 90, 100, 32, 33, 46, 65, 77, 23, 51, 63, 69, 43, 72, 98, 99, 17, 31, 101, 53, 70, 79 (attempts), 39, 40, 91, 92, 95. But he gets airsick if he flies higher than the room in Center Neptune 93.

With all of 7-Zark-7's positive points, he's far from infallible. He says he never forgets anything, but he did once forget when it was his birthday 49. He has also accidentally destroyed his control center in the Think Tank while practicing martial arts 88, 97. There have been many times when he has been completely unable to contact G-Force in dangerous situations 83, 72, 60, 92. Once during a Spectra plot to sabotage Earth's computers, both 7-Zark-7 and 1-Rover-1's programming was adversely affected and they were unable to operate correctly 16. He's also at a loss for an explanation when 1-Rover-1 asks why G-Force wasn't burnt by energy rings they were hit with 70. A failure of his latest physical leads to almost total failure of his systems and he is unable to even control his own movement 60. A similar problem happens when he suffers from a slipped FOSDIC (which can apparently be quite painful) and is unable to perform his duties 79.

Being a robot, 7-Zark-7 has cause for a lot of maintenance and upkeep. He has to be in tip-top condition at all times 21. When it is time for a major overhaul, he is sent to the Rehabilitation Clinic 21 or he goes to the Robot Rehabilitation Center for a complete recycle 58. If anything ever happens to him, he will be repaired right on the spot 83. He usually resists attempts to add further upgrades like extra arms and hands, since his vanity lets him say he's always happy with the way he was put together 87. The fact that a lot can go wrong with 7-Zark-7 shouldn't be a surprise however. He is filled with a dizzying array of internal components. A list of the many parts he has named and what function they have, if mentioned, can be seen here.

7-Zark-7 was portrayed by actor, Alan Young who also played Keyop. Young is perhaps best known for his live-action role of Wilbur Post on the television show Mister Ed, Alan Young has also provided the voice of Disney's Scrooge McDuck for a number of years.
